Riyad Mahrez’s replacement for Manchester City may have been discovered, and he has some encouraging comparisons.
According to reports, Manchester City is interested in a Belgian forward who has been compared to Eden Hazard.
Riyad Mahrez left Manchester City for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli for £30 million this summer, leaving Manchester City scrambling to find a replacement right-winger as they prepare for the new campaign.
Michael Olise of Crystal Palace has been heavily connected in recent weeks, but it appears Pep Guardiola is more interested in signing a different forward from another country in Europe.
The Telegraph claims that Manchester City and Jeremy Doku of Ligue 1 team Rennes are in negotiations.
According to the article, Doku is valued between £43 million and £50 million by Rennes, despite the Belgian forward still having two years left on his contract. The 21-year-old is valued at £25 million by Transfermarkt, though, indicating that Manchester City will have to pay a premium to sign Doku.
Doku moved to Rennes from Anderlecht in 2020 and has since made 90 appearances for the team, scoring 11 goals. Even if it wasn’t a particularly impressive return, Doku has been compared to his fellow countryman Eden Hazard.
