DONE DEAL: Man United agree a deal with Fenerbahce to liquidate Fred for €15m

According to a tweet from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Turkish side Fenerbahce have agreed on a deal with Manchester United to sign midfielder Fred.

Medicals will take place soon as and when the player travels. The important bit here is that personal terms are fully agreed between Fenerbahce and Fred.

It was only a few hours ago when Romano tweeted that the Turkish side have submitted a proposal worth around €15m to sign the Brazil international. Seems like this file moved quickly once United got the money they wanted for their asset.

It was five years ago in a summer window when the Red Devils spent £52m to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

When Jose Mourinho resigned and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer assumed control in the midst of the 2018–19 season, the 30-year-old was one of the regular starters.

After Erik ten Hag joined the team last summer, the midfielder’s playing time began to fluctuate a little bit more. The arrival of Casemiro, a fellow countryman, did not improve the situation either.

If everything works out and Fred signs with Fenerbahce soon, his time playing for United will be viewed in a variety of ways.

There is no question that each time the player entered the field, he wanted to give everything he had for the squad. He had some restrictions on his game, and that was the problem. There is no turning back once that information is discovered while you are playing for a top team.

One would think ten Hag realised that drawback and immediately lowered his playing time from the normal level.

We wish the player the best though and hope he has a good time in Turkey.
