After 11 years with Manchester United, David de Gea was released this summer. However, he was almost absent for that duration. De Gea was about to make his “dream move” to Real Madrid in 2018.

The sale, however, fell through because of a malfunctioning fax machine. Before Erik ten Hag brought in Andre Onana this summer, he had been United’s starting goalkeeper since deciding he wanted to stay there permanently.

Now, eight years later, because of the injury, the relocation may actually happen.

Football Espana claims that David De Gea is among the individuals being considered to replace Thibaut Courtois after it was announced that the latter would miss the majority of the season due to injury. TalkSport also stated recently, in an astonishingly short amount of time, that he is in ‘advanced’ talks with the club. Courtois suffered an ACL tear, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old international from Denmark signed a five-year contract to join United from Italian club Atalanta last weekend. After reaching a £72 million deal with the Serie A team, United swooped in to sign the young player.

Hojlund, who has 10 goals for Atalanta last season, was introduced to the Old Trafford audience on Saturday before United’s 3-1 victory over RC Lens as the third acquisition of the summer. Sources did indicate that he had come at the club while still healing from a preseason injury.

It is yet unknown when he might make his debut because he is anticipated to miss the beginning of the season and United have said they won’t rush his rehabilitation. Prior to the first international break of the season in September, United had four Premier League games.

Despite this uncertainty, the striker was spotted on Wednesday training with the ball away from his new colleagues at Carrington.

According to insider club sources, Hojlund’s injury is not a long-term concern and he is only anticipated to miss a few weeks of action. A customized training plan is being used to treat his injuries, and the young player is reportedly making a full recovery.

Erik ten Hag, who was determined to bring in a new striker this summer, provided an update on Hojlund on Tuesday. He told Sky Sports: “Of course he’s accessible and he’s here so you have the possibility to play, but we don’t expect him on that short notice to be 100% fit.

We must thus wait for a while longer. Because there will be so many games, we need to double up on every position.

It’s hard to predict how that process will unfold, but for now, I believe he is progressing well. We must first monitor the progress day by day before taking any further action.

Hojlund won’t be playing, therefore Ten Hag might start Marcus Rashford in the middle of his forward three against Wolves on Monday night at Old Trafford. Against Lens, the England star was backed up by Antony and Alejandro Garnacho as he started down the middle.
