The news about Kylian Mbappé’s decision to not extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain next summer has undoubtedly dominated preparations for France’s doubleheader in this week’s Euro 2024 qualifiers, possibly signaling a transfer in the coming months.
Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was forced to address the possibility of playing with his national team captain at the club level during today’s press conference at Clairefontaine. The 20-year-old declined to comment directly on the rumors but said that he would not be against having Mbappé in the Spanish capital:
“You’ll hear that said, I assure you. Nothing to say, I suppose. I’d be overjoyed if he joined Real Madrid.
Camavinga continued by saying that while the subject was discussed among the team and that there was some taunting as well, he didn’t think Mbappé was significantly affected by the information.
Prior to playing Greece at the Stade de France three days later, Les Bleus flew to Portugal to play Gibraltar on Friday night. After victories over the Netherlands and Ireland in March, they were in first place.
