Mason Greenwood is still putting himself through his paces, so Manchester United hasn’t decided whether or not to reinstate him in the first-team squad.
While he awaits word from Manchester United regarding their decision over his future, Mason Greenwood has been seen working out.
The forward, who has progressed through Old Trafford’s levels, hasn’t played since his arrest in January of last year on charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the allegations in February, but uncertainty has persisted regarding his future in English sport.
Greenwood, a 35-goal Red Devils scorer who recently became a parent, was doing his shooting drills in front of his father at a public training facility. After the allegations against Greenwood were dropped, United began a five-month internal inquiry, and a decision regarding their next move is about to be made.
Due to the charges, Nike fired the 21-year-old, and he wasn’t practicing in boots made by the illustrious company. Greenwood made his first public appearance while practicing in June of last year.
All the players think he deserves a second opportunity because, according to a source who previously spoke with The Sun, he is innocent in the eyes of the law. The players believe he has been left in limbo because he was unable to defend himself in court after the accusations were dismissed.
“They are prepared to protect him and support him even if they are aware that it would be difficult. There is loyalty to him among some of the younger players who went through the program with him. They are aware of his past errors, but the boys who have spoken to him claim he has matured considerably over the past 18 months and will return much more experienced.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, reaffirmed that the club would make any decisions. It’s a club choice, he said. Of course, I’ve expressed my thoughts and beliefs, but the club will decide. Everyone here must accept that. Additionally, the Dutchman said, “I can’t say anything about it. But as I said, I voiced my view about it, so let’s see what transpires and what the outcome is.
