Prior to their debuts in the Saudi Pro League this weekend, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, former Liverpool colleagues, reconnected in the Middle East.
In the past month, Henderson, 33, departed Liverpool for Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, where he would make £700,000 a week.
Mane, meantime, departed Bayern for Al-Nassr after a trying year in Germany, during which he made 38 appearances and contributed to six goals and 12 assists.
The 31-year-old Senegalese forward, who makes a staggering £650,000 a week, is anticipated to start next to Cristiano Ronaldo.
And a year after Mane left the team, the two Liverpool legends—who together won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup on Merseyside—met in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to the Saudi Pro League’s first weekend, Henderson and Mane were happy to meet one another.
Al-Ettifaq and Al-Nassr will meet on Monday.
Despite the fact that they will compete against each other, the couple hugged and grinned as they put on their uniforms.
Mane then exclaimed in shock, “I can’t believe it.”
Each man has already made an appearance for his club.
Henderson served as the captain for an Al-Ettifaq friendly while Mane participated in two Arab Club Champions Cup games.
Al-Ettifaq placed 11th out of 16 teams in the Saudi Pro division division last season.
Six points behind the winner, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr placed third.
