OFFICIAL: Klopp agree sign LFC their next Milner with move for ‘wonderful’ £24m-rated ace

With Jurgen Klopp still wanting to make multiple additions before the transfer season ends, Liverpool is considering a move for an unusual new midfielder in Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Reds made a strong start to the transfer window with the astute £35 million acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, followed by the thrilling £60 million acquisition of Dominik Szobsozlai. However, since then, the movement has stalled, and Southampton’s defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia, who is 19 years old, has not yet joined despite several unsuccessful bids.

The exits of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabian teams have increased the need for new players, and Klopp and company must act quickly as the 2023–24 Premier League season is less than a week away.

How far along is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Liverpool?

Liverpool is ‘looking at’ signing Foxes star Dewsbury-Hall, according to a report from Anfield Watch last week. Liverpool was impressed by the 24-year-old’s performances last season.

The Englishman, who is valued at £24 million, was demoted with Leicester, but Liverpool has a tried-and-true strategy for bringing in players from clubs that have gone down, and Klopp might now carry on this pattern and strengthen his center.

Who is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a player?

Despite being relegated to the second division this season, Dewsbury-Hall’s interest from the Reds is a credit to his work ethic and enthusiasm in the middle of the field.

The 24-year-old’s performance as a forward-surging force and a defensive unit to strengthen the backline is demonstrated by his ranking among the top 13% of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for progressive carries, the top 10% for successful take-ons, and the top 1% for blocks per 90.

The £75k per week machine did have an average rating of 6.86 in the English top-flight, according to Sofascore, averaging 1.3 critical passes and 1.7 tackles per game and succeeding with 61% of his attempted dribbles. Granted, this didn’t quite have the desired effect with the Foxes last season.

Dewsbury-Hall might be the ideal replacement for James Milner, who left Anfield last summer after his contract expired, given his energy and excitement from the center of the park.

While Milner is now 37 years old, his leadership and dynamism will be missed. Dewsbury-Hall can play across the midfield and would be a valuable addition for Klopp’s team as they aim to reinforce the ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Former manager Brendan Roders once waxed poetic about the Leicester player’s abilities, saying that he “typifies everything” that the team sought to do well and that he is “wonderful.”

Milner was similarly referred to as a “role model” who “sets the standards” by Klopp, and the former Manchester City dynamo still possesses the all-around skills to belie his age given that he ranks among the top 12% of midfielders for progressive passes, the top 22% for progressive carries, the top 26% for successful take-ons, and the top 10% for tackles per 90.

Dewsbury-Hall may not be the household name Liverpool supporters yearn for, but he might still be a valuable addition. If the money is there, Liverpool should move forward and bolster the squad.
