The final match of FC Barcelona’s preseason is expected to take place against Tottenham Hotspur in the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companies, which will serve as the team’s home field for the 2023–2024 season while Camp Nou undergoes further renovations.
The annual Joan Gamper Trophy matchup between two dominant English and Spanish clubs is expected to feature strong lineups from both teams. Here is how FC Barcelona might set up in their matchup with Spurs.
Marc Andre Ter Stegen, goalkeeper
In spite of being the second captain in the hierarchy and Xavi Hernandez between the goalposts, the German will unquestionably represent Barcelona as their captain for the majority of this season. He is also much more likely to start games than Sergi Roberto, who will continue to serve as the first captain.
Ronald Araujo, right back
Jules Kounde’s positional conundrum may have been resolved for both the player and Xavi Hernandez at this point, but Ronald Araujo is currently Barcelona’s finest right-back and central defender. The talent and adaptability of the Uruguayan provide Barcelona with a great deal of defensive comfort.
Back row: Eric Garcia
Given his skills with the ball, continues to be a wonderful asset for Barcelona when it comes to building up from the back. However, needs to strengthen his defensive skills, and a match against Spurs would be a good opportunity to do so.
Jules Kounde, center back
According to reports, Xavi Hernandez has informed the French defender that his role in the current Barcelona squad would predominantly be as a central defender and that he will only be used as a fullback when absolutely necessary.
Alejandro Balde is a left back.
His enormous potential and raw ability were on display against Real Madrid and AC Milan on the preseason tour, and he will be looking to keep up this good form against Spurs. He is a fixture of Barcelona in his own way.
Oriol Romeu, CDM
The veteran’s so far encouraging performances in his role as the team’s main pivot continue to show why Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez trusted him with such a significant amount of responsibility.
Ilkay Gundogan, CM
The player was rested against AC Milan after an injury scare against Real Madrid in order to prevent any relapses or exacerbation of previous problems. However, this could be the German midfielder’s chance of a lifetime to wow Barcelona supporters.
CM: Frenkie De Jong
De Jong keeps mesmerizing and confusing me with his theatrics. It appears that the Dutchman has considerably more leeway to play his own distinctive style of football thanks to the relationship with Oriol Romeu by his side, which has been quite advantageous to Barcelona.
Pedri is a left-winger.
Similar to his performance against Real Madrid, Pedri’s use as a false left winger assures dominance in the midfield and more ball possession in the last third of the field.
Forward in the center: Robert Lewandowski
His ability to draw in opponents gives his teammates more room to grow, and if those opponents lose sight of him even briefly, he has the goal-scoring ability to punish them. He remains the major attraction for opposing defenders to deal with.
Raphinha is a right-winger
With Dembele leaving for French club Paris Saint-Germain, Brazilian winger Raphinha has a fantastic chance to show off his own special qualities and prove why Barcelona brought him in as a potential Dembele successor.
