It has been claimed that Manchester United are interested in acquiring OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. This comes at a time when Harry Maguire’s future remains unclear.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have communicated with and discussed the French defender in the past; nevertheless, the Italian journalist claims that there have been no recent interactions between the two parties.
Romano, on the other hand, says that if United pursued the French defender, the club would have to let Maguire go in order to make room for him.
Importantly, he claims that Juventus have withdrawn from the competition to sign Todibo after inquiring about him the previous week.
The future of Maguire
Yesterday, in Manchester United’s final preseason game before they face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on the following Monday, Maguire committed an error while the team was playing Athletic Bilbao.
The defender’s bad decision-making allowed the Spanish team to take the lead, and as a result, the Englishman was jeered by the United fans in Dublin. This resulted in the Spanish team scoring first. According to David Ornstein, United have previously rejected an offer made by West Ham for the former Leicester defender. The offer made by West Ham was quite low, coming in at only £20 million, and United rejected this offer.
What may we expect from Todibo?
The transfer of the Frenchman to Old Trafford is now in the very early stages of being finalized, and if the defender were to make the move, he would undoubtedly bring a lot to the table for Manchester United in terms of his play with the ball.
