Luis Diaz’s latest goal for Liverpool delighted fans in their final pre-season friendly.
Liverpool defeated Darmstadt 3-1 at Preston’s Deepdale Stadium on Monday evening to complete their summer schedule, with Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota scoring.
It was Liverpool’s final game before facing Chelsea in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s team will be trying to return to the Champions League after falling short last season, but will have to contend with a Europa League campaign as well as domestic duties.
Fans’ excitement was heightened in the second half on Monday, when striker Diaz cleverly glanced Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner beyond the Darmstadt goalie to make the score 3-1.

The forward’s entire performance on the night also wowed fans. He played 74 minutes against Darmstadt and appears to be the Reds’ primary choice on the left as the season begins.
Last season, the Colombian was absent for several months due to injury, but he returned near the conclusion of the season and is fit and ready to go this season.

Liverpool won three, drew one, and lost one of their five preseason games this summer.
They started the new season with a 4-2 victory over Karlsruher SC in June, before tying 4-4 with Greuther Furth behind closed doors.
They then defeated Leicester 4-0 in Singapore before falling 4-3 to Bayern Munich a few days later.
Back in England, they completed their schedule with a win on Monday and will now prepare for their weekend trip to Stamford Bridge.
