ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Jurgen Klopp’s side won their third pre-season game against Darmstadt at Deepdale Stadium in Preston.
Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz scored to give Liverpool a comfortable win ahead of their Premier League opener against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Salah scored from a corner before winning the ball in a dangerous area and setting up Jota to score inside 10 minutes. Mathias Honsak equalized right away, but Diaz’s spectacular acrobatic backheel from a corner restored the two-goal margin in the second period.
THE MVP: Diaz is named MVP of this game only for his wonderful backheel goal from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner early in the second half.
THE BIG LOSER: No one was particularly bad for Liverpool, but their defence was carved open very easily by Darmstadt for their only goal of the game. This could happen more than time if the resistance is stronger.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL? Klopp still needs a defensive midfielder with Fabinho gone and another bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has been rejected. However, the signals are good in terms of offense ahead of the upcoming campaign.
