On Monday, West Ham made two separate offers for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay in an effort to spend the money obtained from the sale of Declan Rice.
West Ham’s offers for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were turned down by Manchester United, but negotiations for their former captain are still ongoing.
On Monday, the Hammers made two separate offers totaling £30 million for the Red Devils duo. Both players are thought to be ready for a move after manager Erik ten Hag relieved captain Harry Maguire of his duties earlier this summer.
West Ham has had a proposal for the England international rejected, but they have since made a better offer. Additionally, manager David Moyes is eager to use the money obtained from the sale of Declan Rice on a new midfielder.
McTominay is his most recent top target, but according to the Manchester Evening News, United has flatly rejected its £30 million offer for the Scot. The two transactions are independent, thus the Red Devils also declined the offer for Maguire.
It is very unlikely that the Hammers will submit a revised offer for McTominay. However, they are thinking about making a third bid to Maguire because Moyes is in need of defensive additions.
The desire of United to sign Sofyan Amrabat may make room for McTominay to depart. However, due to Kobbie Mainoo’s preseason injury, United are hesitant to sell unless a potential bidder agrees to their asking price.
They have set Maguire’s asking price at between £40 million and £50 million in accordance with this valuation. Injury prevented McTominay from playing in United’s final two summer friendlies, but Maguire started against Athletic Bilbao.
But before a terrible error allowed Nico Williams to score the game’s first goal, he was jeered at in Dublin. United does not aim to force him out of Old Trafford despite his subpar performances.
Maguire has been demoted by Boss Ten Hag, who now places Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof ahead of him in the pecking order. The United manager has argued that the team has room for the England star.
“I think everyone can agree that it is disappointing for a player, but it can also be incredibly beneficial for the team and Harry. Harry is a key participant. We have four center backs; we need a minimum of four center backs, and possibly one more,” he remarked in June.
We played a lot of games last season, therefore we are thrilled to have Harry in our squad. Because there is no longer a requirement for a leader, there is less duty from that standpoint, but we still require more than 11 players and a competition.
He has the talent, as I have always stated, and he can defend himself in the team. As a result, it is up to him to land this job, which frees him up to concentrate more on his duties. However, a centre-back must be able to organize and communicate because it is one of their duties.
