Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay have received a shocking £60 million DOUBLE BID from WEST HAM.
And the residents of East London are currently awaiting word from Manchester United on their bold effort to sign both midfielder McTominay and defender Maguire for almost £30 million each.
The information was released the same day Gianluca Scamacca made official plans to leave the team and join Serie A team Atalanta for a reported £27 million plus add-ons.
Due to disagreements over recruitment strategy and philosophy between manager David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten, there has been a great deal of tension at West Ham.
West Ham currently appears close to making their first acquisitions of the year since Declan Rice’s £105 million exit on July 15. Owner David Sullivan has thus been compelled to take a more hands-on approach to bring deals across the line.
Having made the Manchester United defender one of his key targets, Moyes is a huge admirer of the pair.
SunSport understands the club has increased on its initial £20 million offer after having it rejected this summer in order to attract Maguire, 30, to East London.
West Ham is now in pay negotiations, which can be a roadblock.
After Maguire’s recent wage boost following the Red Devils’ Champions League qualification, a deal that benefits all parties is required, especially the Red Devils.
United might need to increase his pay as compensation, for example.
With Erik ten Hag in charge at Old Trafford, Maguire is out of favor after recently losing his captaincy and making only eight Premier League starts the previous year.
With the Euros coming up next summer, the central defender, who moved to Manchester from Leicester for £80 million in 2019, would want to feature this season for the first team.
To accommodate Kurt Zouma’s injury troubles, Moyes needs more depth at center back, and Maguire and Nayef Aguerd, another ball-playing defender, might work well together.
McTominay, 26, has been the subject of discussions between West Ham and United for a number of weeks. Should a deal be reached with Maguire, West Ham may complete a double swoop.
Following Mason Mount’s departure from Chelsea and Casemiro’s prominence in Ten Hag’s plans, Scotland’s McTominay has slipped down the United hierarchy.
Prior to West Ham’s away Premier League start against Bournemouth, Moyes is eager to acquire additional players.
In their first six games, they play Chelsea, Brighton, Manchester City, and Liverpool, which is a difficult stretch for them.
