News: Edwin Cerrillo, a midfielder previously with FC Dallas, has been acquired by the Los Angeles Galaxy

LOS ANGELES (Thursday, August 3, 2023) – In case you missed it: Today, LA Galaxy announced that the team has acquired the midfielder Edwin Cerrillo from FC Dallas in exchange for $200,000 in General Acquisition Funds (GAM) for the 2023 season. Cerrillo was previously with FC Dallas. The deal between Galaxy and FC Dallas was finalized in time for the MLS secondary transfer window to close. The window for secondary transfers closed at midnight. If Cerrillo achieves a certain level of profitability, Dallas may be eligible to receive up to $400,000 in GAM compensation. In addition, Dallas will be entitled to a portion of the future transfer fee revenue, regardless of whether Cerrillo is transferred within or outside of Major League Soccer (MLS).

Cerrillo, who is 22 years old, has recorded four assists in 96 games played (67 as the starting player) across all competitions during his time spent playing with FC Dallas over the course of five seasons (2019-23). The native of Waco, Texas, played 19 games for FC Dallas during the regular season of MLS 2023. He started 15 of those games and recorded two assists. He led the team in possessions won with 122, and he finished second in the club in passes completed with 776 (with an accuracy rate of 87.5%).
