HARRY MAGUIRE left Manchester United fans furious after a catastrophic error against Athletic Bilbao.

In United’s final preseason friendly, Erik ten Hag passed on the 30-year-old for the captaincy.

Maguire inexplicably tried an outside of the boot pass before the goal

Aaron Wan-Bissaka passed the ball to Maguire while Man United was in possession of it.

After that, the center-back bafflingly tried to pass outside of his boot into a teammate’s path.

The ball was cut out for Bilbao by Inigo Lekue, and it eventually found its way to Oihan Sancet.

The ball then went in off the post and gave Bilbao the lead when he sent a sharp pass into Nico Williams, who then pushed the ball past a rushing Tom Heaton.

Maguire was also booed by fans following the error.

Journalist Sameul Luckhurst also claimed that United academy product Dan Gore, who is 12 years younger than Maguire, had been berating him for failing to move for a pass.

The defender has already received criticism from Andre Onana during preseason after making a mistake in a 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Taking to Twitter, one furious fan said: “Maguire is dreadful. The fridge can’t put in one half decent performance in a friendly.”

A second wrote: “Different season, same Harry Maguire.. 😭.”

“Maguire what the hell was that,” asked a third.

Maguire has been linked with the Old Trafford exit after being stripped of the armband.

In respect to this one fan argued: “I like Harry Maguire, but I think if he had any self respect he’d leave Manchester United.”
