Barcelona delayed Ousmane Dembele’s move to PSG in the midst of selling the French player to Saudi Arabia

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Barcelona is delaying the 26-year-old France international’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in an effort to sell him to Saudi Arabia.

Dembélé’s €50 million release clause was triggered by PSG earlier this week, and they hoped to complete the transaction by Monday. With Les Parisiens, the player already has a contract in place. Barcelona is trying to buy some time, though, so they can demand a greater price for their attacker.

According to Aouna, PSG has written to Barcelona to arrange for Dembélé’s medical. The Catalan club has not yet responded, though. In the midst of a delay, Al-Hilal made Dembélé an offer of €100 million year plus a €50 million commission.

A greater price is also being offered by the Saudi club, however the exact amount is unknown at this time.

Nevertheless, Dembélé is only interested in joining PSG, so despite Barcelona’s best efforts, it won’t be long before the Frenchman joins the Ligue 1 winners.

Dembélé has been invited to practice with Barcelona this Sunday, according to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport. He also noted that the La Liga team is taking its time sending over the necessary paperwork. Hawkins affirms, like Aouna, that Dembélé’s transfer to PSG is certain.
