Unbelievably, Mason Mount miss Manchester United’s first goal against RC Lens slip through his fingers

On Saturday, the English national made his debut for United at Old Trafford after completing his £55 million transfer from Chelsea.

Mount had a great chance to score his first goal of the game against the Ligue 1 team, but he missed it.

United made a wonderful play, with Bruno Fernandes threading a beautiful ball through the middle of the defense to set up Alejandro Garnacho for a clear shot.

The Argentine selflessly teed up Mount, who had a wide-open goal to shoot at from six yards out.

But Mount made a huge mistake by accidentally kicking the ball against his own foot, giving the other team a chance to get away.

United’s new No. 7 was captured on camera beaming despite the fact that it was an experience he would rather forget.

With the lively Garnacho causing all sorts of issues down the left wing, United looked tremendously dangerous going forward.

Erik ten Hag’s club, however, met a rival that finished second in the French league, one point behind champion Paris Saint-Germain.

In the 23rd minute, the surprising goal came from the visitors as Andre Onana was caught off his line by Florian Sotoca.

After United’s Diogo Dalot passed the ball poorly into United territory, Sotoca took possession and lobbed the Cameroonian with beautiful aplomb.

The ex-Inter Milan keeper likes to get up high to rapidly capture possession of the ball and prevent counterattacks.

But we saw the peril of his strategy as Sotoca made major use of it. When Onana chased after the ball and dove to save it, he ended up in his own goal.

Rasmus Hojland made his United debut at the Theatre of Dreams after the club announced his £72 million transfer from Atalanta.

United adds a Dane to their summer roster.
