Update: Cerrillo, who has spent the past eight years with FC Dallas and is the club’s 24th homegrown player, is expected to join the LA Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy have agreed to send FC Dallas up to $600,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in exchange for the midfielder Edwin Cerrillo, who was born and raised in Dallas.

On February 14, 2019, FC Dallas announced the signing of Edwin Cerrillo, making him the club’s 24th homegrown player.


FC Dallas was awarded $200,000 in GAM for 2023, and the club has the potential to earn an additional $400,000 in conditional GAM if specific performance indicators are reached. In addition, FC Dallas is entitled to a portion of any future transfer fee that Cerrillo may incur, regardless of whether the move takes place within or outside of MLS. The deal was finalized in the nick of time before the end of the Secondary Transfer Window in MLS.

Cerrillo, who is 22 years old, has appeared for FC Dallas in 87 games.


Cerrillo started for FC Dallas in 15 games during the 2023 season. On March 9, Cerrillo made his MLS debut for FC Dallas by coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute of their game against LA Galaxy, which they won 2-0. Cerrillo has appeared in 86 matches for FC Dallas, which places him sixth overall among all homegrown players.
