MANCHESTER UNITED are close to finalising the move for midfield target Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports.
This comes as secret talks have taken place between Fiorentina and United’s representatives.
Sofyan Amrabat is edging ever closer to completing his dream move to United after secret talks held
The midfielder played a starring role in Morocco’s brilliant run to the semi-finals
After almost completing the signing of striker Rasmus Hojland, Amrabat is suddenly United’s primary priority.
After his team miraculously advanced to the semifinals for the first time in the Qatar World Cup, the holding midfielder was one of the tournament’s top performers.
His performances caught the eyes of Europe’s biggest sides, including PSG, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.
Fiorentina want around £30million for the 26-year-old Moroccan international, who has one year left on his contract.
The latest, Romano continued: “Sofyan Amrabat, not called up for next Fiorentina game.
Manchester United, expected to open formal talks for Amrabat soon as Fred and Donny Van de Beek are close to leaving the club.
Amrabat wants Manchester United, this has never changed.”
Amrabat’s move is quite similar to the case of Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish international did not attend pre-season friendlies to focus on completing his move to Man Utd.
And according to the Daily Mail, a deal could be imminent now that representatives from both sides have met.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla tweeted: “After the sale of Castrovilli (to Bournemouth), it will soon be the turn of Amrabat.
“As already mentioned, there have been SECRET contacts between Fiorentina and MUFC through intermediaries”.
United were keen to sign the World Cup hero in January but the Serie A side were hesitant to let him go.
The Red Devils are yet to lodge an opening offer for the £30m-rated midfielder and will need to move on a few players first.
United need to sell either Donny van de Beek, who is wanted by Real Sociedad, or Galatasaray target Fred to finance the move.
Meanwhile, Amrabat has reportedly turned down big-money offers from Saudi Arabian clubs.
