UPDATE: Klopp puts all in to recruit ‘juicy’ $27m offer, Barca star hold 99,99% golden chance to come to Anfield

Jürgen Klopp allegedly made a “juicy” bid for a Spaniard, but a midfielder from Barcelona would also be a good fit, according to the latest Liverpool transfer news.

The race is on for Liverpool to sign additional players before the new season begins, or at the very least, before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Even though it is highly doubtful that anyone hired at this point will be eligible to start the season’s opening game away at Chelsea, there are still some significant holes that need to be filled before September 1.

To strengthen the midfield, there is a clear need for a number six, and there is a case for playing two. Roméo Lavia is still a player admired, but at 19, it would be dangerous to travel alone.

After that, another center-back is desperately needed to replace Ibrahima Konaté and help relieve the pressure that is now being placed on Virgil van Dijk. Although the first-choice alliance is solid, extra assistance is needed.

Here is the Liverpool.com opinion on the transfer rumors that have surfaced today regarding the Reds, including the resurgence of two midfielders who have previously been linked to the Reds.

Franck Kessié (Barcelona)

The midfielder can leave Camp Nou for just $16 million (£13 million/€15 million) a year after joining from AC Milan, according to Spanish outlet SPORT, suggesting that Jürgen Klopp might make a bargain move for him this summer.

Given that Kessié had previously been connected with a move to Anfield, Liverpool is mentioned in the report as one of the teams who may be interested, but it does seem a bit like putting two and two together. Liverpool is in need of midfielders, and a guy at Barcelona might be the perfect fit.

Since then, Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Kessié also has a proposal from Saudi Arabia, which appears far more likely to materialize.

Gabri Veiga (Celta Vigo)

According to Estadio Deportivo, Liverpool has made a ‘juicy’ first offer for Gabri Veiga at $27 million (£22 million/€25 million), which is significantly less than the Spanish wonderkid’s $44 million (£35 million/€40 million) release clause.

In addition to Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, who appear to be perfect candidates for those positions, the Reds have also signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for their attacking midfield spots this summer. Veiga, however, was mentioned previously in the summer transfer season and is undoubtedly a player to keep an eye on going forward.
