Franck Kessie, a midfielder for Barcelona, is reportedly close to signing a €15 million deal to Al-Ahli, according to Pol Ballus of The Athletic.
The 26-year-old has been told it would be best for him to depart because he won’t receive any playing time at Barça this year.
Kessie wanted to be successful at the club, hence he had been hesitant to go. But lately, he’s come to terms with his predicament and made room for a departure.
Franck Kessie was on his way to Saudi Arabia. Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus have been prominently connected with a transfer, but Al-Ahli is now expected to sign the Ivory Coast international.
Last month, the Saudi Arabian powerhouses also expressed interest in Kessie, but negotiations stalled due to the parties’ inability to reach an understanding.
Al-Ahli, on the other hand, reacted rapidly and is close to finalizing the trade after rekindling their interest in him, according to The Athletic.
According to the rumor, the midfielder will be sold for a price of €15 million, which is what Barcelona was asking for him when they chose to put him up for sale.
Kessie would want to stay in Europe rather than relocate to Saudi Arabia, according to a recent article.
Earlier today, sources claimed that the midfielder would be open to the transfer provided he was given a big payoff.
And as he nears a move to Al-Ahli, that may very well be the case right now.
According to Okaz Sports in Saudi Arabia, the player and the club have already reached a deal, and Al-Ahli will soon submit a formal offer to Barça.
Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, Roberto Firmino, and Edouard Mendy are just a few of the high-profile athletes that the Saudi Arabian team has previously signed. Kessie will soon join their lineup as the newest player.
