Liverpool defeated Leicester City 4-0 in Singapore on Wednesday, recording their first preseason clean sheet.
The Merseysiders have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer window after bringing in Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Romeo Lavia of Southampton has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
The Reds have agreed to terms on a contract with the Belgian international, who must yet reach an agreement with the Saints to complete the transaction.
Lavia’s recruitment is a priority for the 19-time English champions, according to Fabrizio Romano, who will go to any length to gain his talents.
According to acclaimed Italian journalist (Caught Offside):
“Jurgen Klopp has mentioned working on midfield solutions, but my understanding is that the priority is still Romeo Lavia,” said a source close to the club.
“Liverpool are still focused on Lavia for the time being, and it’s not going to be an easy deal.” Because Southampton is insisting on a £50 million deal for Lavia, negotiations are still ongoing but will resume next week.”
“Liverpool will try to find the best way to sign him, because Chelsea is also interested.”
Jordan Henderson did a great job for the team, and we went on to win every major championship under his leadership.
Despite his lack of technical ability, the England international was a continuous source of energy in the center of the park, pressing aggressively for the ball.
He was past his prime and inconsistent last season, so moving him made sense, but the Reds now need a leader and a press machine to replace him.
