Liverpool wants to steal a ‘very top’ left-footed defender to play with VVD, and it isn’t Levi Colwill

Levi Colwill, a defender for Chelsea, has been near the top of Liverpool’s transfer shortlist this summer due to his apparent underappreciation by the Blues’ coaching staff. But this week, the English center back decided to sign a new contract with the Blues, putting an end to Jürgen Klopp’s pursuit of him.

There aren’t many lefties to choose from, with Joko Gvardiol being the pinnacle of quality. The Croatian international is young (just 21), yet he plays well above his years, especially defensively and when in possession of the ball.

Gvardiol has always been a huge fan of Liverpool. “Since I was a little boy, my dad and I watched Liverpool matches, and I grew up with only them,” he said to the Croatian news outlet 24Sata. I became a fan when I started taking football seriously; now I hope to one day play in the Premier League for Liverpool.

Castello Lukeba has been linked to RB Leipzig (French Football News). The Frenchman is only 20, yet he already has a deal with Lyon. As a left-footed player with a lot of potential, he might be a good alternative for Gvardiol if the Croat is traded to Manchester City in the near future.
