The list was created by Opta Analyst with the assistance of 50 statistical professionals. Each writer was asked to choose a player they were looking forward to watching in the next season.
Two promising players that transferred to Turf Moor this summer are James Trafford and Zeki Amdouni. They are among those who will be chosen.
Trafford signed a four-year contract to make a permanent switch from Manchester City to East Lancashire for an unknown sum.
The 20-year-old had previously excelled for England at the Under-21 European Championships, where he didn’t allow a single goal and saved a last-second penalty during the Three Lions’ victory over Spain in the tournament’s championship match.
As for Amdouni, the forward signed a five-year deal with the Clarets after switching from Swiss club Basel.
The 22-year-old scored 19 goals for Basel last season. In his first five games for Switzerland, he scored five goals.
To give you an idea of the distinguished company Trafford and Amdouni are in, both new Barcelona signee Ilkay Gundogan and new Real Madrid sensation Jude Bellingham are on the list.
On the eve of the 2023–24 season in Europe, Opta Analyst posed the question, “Who are we looking forward to watching this season?
As is typical at this time of year, we’ve gathered 50 of the brightest minds from Opta to choose one player from across Europe who they believe you should watch in the forthcoming campaign.
“These aren’t the top 50 European players, nor are they the top 50 guys you’ve never heard of. Although there are many young players on this list, each writer was required to choose someone they are enthusiastic about in 2023 or 2024. You’ll see that the players are pretty diverse.
Cole Palmer of Manchester City, who has been linked with a loan transfer to Burnley this summer, is also listed, as is Bart Verbruggen of Brighton, who Vincent Kompany was apparently interested in.
Bruno Guimares, William Saliba, and Vinicius Junior were among the top 50 finishers from the previous season.
