In the past few days, information about David Raya has attracted the attention of Arsenal fans. Many reputable sources including Romano assert, David Raya has reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal on personal terms. On the Brentford side, the Bees are ready to sell Raya if they receive a strong enough offer on the negotiating table.
Brentford wants to earn at least £40 million in Raya. The current contract between the 27-year-old goalkeeper and the Bees has one year left. Raya personally agreed to move to Arsenal. The remaining issue depends on the negotiation process between the two teams.
There are mixed views surrounding the Raya deal. Former player Danny Murphy expressed disagreement with Arsenal’s transfer plan. Sharing with talkSPORT, Murphy made a point:
“I’m trying to explain Arsenal’s plans. If you sign David Raya, what do you plan to do with Aaron Ramsdale? Why are we spending £40m on a new goalkeeper if we don’t really want him to start?”
“On the other hand, if you’re from Raya’s perspective, you’ll want to go to a team that can secure your number one spot in the woodwork. Raya isn’t happy just playing the No. 2 goalkeeper role. The only way for you to convince Raya is to say that he will be in the starting XI.”
