After finally joining the squad following the birth of his third child, Barcelona icon Jordi Alba participated in his first practice with Inter Miami. Alba was formally introduced just before Lionel Messi made his Inter Miami debut against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
His contract with Barcelona was mutually canceled in May, and he now joins on a free transfer.
Following Messi’s statement that he will join Miami, the team was linked with the additions of Luis Suarez and Sergio Ramos, among other ex-La Liga players, in addition to Alba.
Suarez, who joined Gremio in January, is now expected to leave the club, however, it is unclear if he will actually reunite with his former Barcelona colleagues in Miami.
Additionally, Ramos has noticed an increase in connections between himself and LAFC and may rekindle his rivalry with Messi from their time together at Real Madrid rather than working together as they did at Paris Saint-Germain.
The 2014–15 Champions League winner uploaded a photo of himself cradling his huge puppy to Instagram on Saturday as he got ready to leave Barcelona.
He captioned the photo, saying, “Here we go!”
The athlete posted a photo of himself on Instagram bidding goodbye to his three children, Piero, Bruna, and the new arrival Paolo, as well as greetings from Alba’s family.
Have a safe journey, dad,” reads the caption of the picture. “We will soon be all together.” We adore you. Just do it!
The youngest kid of the couple, Paolo, was born about ten days ago to Alba’s wife, Romarey Ventura, who is also well-known on the Spanish internet.
At the time, it was widely believed that this was the cause of the player’s move being postponed until this point.
Despite being left off of the team that won the 2010 World Cup under then-manager Vincente Del Bosque, Alba has played 93 times for Spain at the international level and was a member of the Euro 2012 winning side.
The athlete has the option to keep playing with Inter Miami through 2025.
Similar to how Robert Taylor previously disclosed Messi and Busquets’ entrance left the rest of Miami’s locker room star-struck, Alba’s presence might have done the same for the rest of the team.
Taylor recalled being around Messi and Busquets when they first joined the team back in June, saying, “Everyone was a little bit starstruck.”
‘Of course, when I first saw Messi in the locker room, I was like, ‘Whoa, like, this is wild,’ but neither he nor Busquets ever made me feel frightened because they are such wonderful, happy people.
If anything, knowing that I can train with these players, be around them, and they can help me become a better player just makes me so thrilled to get to practice every morning.
The majority of the participants would concur that it is just thrilling. Everyone desires to compete against the world’s top athletes. We have the advantage of being able to do that.
Alba’s first opportunity to play alongside his new teammates will come on Wednesday, August 2, when they take on Orlando City.
