Following his historic transfer to Inter Miami, Lionel Messi has been seen looking at homes in Boca Raton.
With him were his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their oldest child Thiago, who was sporting an Inter Miami jersey bearing his father’s name.
The 36-year-old Messi scored a last-second winner in his debut to officially announce his move to the United States earlier this month.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has now been named Inter Miami’s captain, followed it up on his second outing with two goals and an assist.
Additionally, it appears that Messi is having fun off the field as well. He and Antonella were beaming as they toured an opulent home in Boca Raton, which is only 25 minutes from DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale but almost an hour north of Miami.
The home, which appeared to feature a golf putting green, was shown to Messi. Even a brief demonstration of how to play the club was observed being given to Messi by someone.
Thiago (age 10), Mateo (age 7), and Ciro (age 5) are Messi and Antonela’s three children. The couple was married in 2017.
The family would have more properties in South Florida. They already have a lavish $9 million apartment with views of Miami and Sunny Isles Beach.
The World Cup champion reportedly purchased the apartment at the Porsche Design Tower back in 2019.
The 60-floor tower is approximately 25 minutes from Inter Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium, halfway between Bal Harbour and Aventura.
The apartment has a private restaurant, a seaside outdoor cafe, a movie theater, and racing and golf simulators.
Messi signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter Miami, and it is anticipated that he will make $50–60 million every season.
Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, both members of the old Barcelona club, have already accompanied the Argentine international to South Beach.
Meanwhile, despite the failure of negotiations between Luis Suarez’s current club Gremio and Inter Miami, the Uruguayan player claimed that he and Lionel Messi still “dream of retiring together.”
The MLS team wanted to get Suarez back with Messi and company. However, negotiations for an agreement have since broken down.
Suarez said on the Uruguayan TV program Punto Penal, “With Messi, we dream of retiring together.”
We always meant to do that while we were in Barcelona. I moved to Atletico Madrid from one year to the next, while he moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
“We talked and dreamed about going to the United States after Barcelona, but nothing ever materialized at the time.”
“Now that he’s made the decision to go there, and as you can see, he appears to be happy, we hope that possibility will at some point materialize.”
