Real Madrid will be cursing their luck that defender Ferland Mendy has been sidelined yet again with an injury.
For much of his Real Madrid career, the left-back has been plagued by ailments, with last season being his worst ever. With only 28 appearances, he was barely a factor in the season’s final stages.
Mendy has been diagnosed with a thigh tear or a micro-tear in his hamstring after missing Real Madrid training on Sunday. Onda Cero believes it could keep him out for up to a month.
This would rule him out of matches against Athletic Club, Almeria, and Celta Vigo, with a possible comeback against Getafe on December 3rd.
Fortunately for Carlo Ancelotti, Mendy has a natural substitute in Fran Garcia this season. Garcia, who was signed back from Rayo Vallecano this summer, has gone from strength to strength in preseason, continuing where he left off at Vallecas.
