A stunning preseason statistic reveals that Darwin Nunez is in peak form just in time for the season

DARWIN NUNEZ provided Jurgen Klopp with another evidence that he will soon begin repaying his £85 million transfer cost.

Last year, the forward had a tough time living up to expectations after his record transfer from Benfica.

Not a bad record (15 goals in 42 games), but he still seemed tense and out of place as he struggled to fit in.

The 24-year-old is starting to settle in nicely.

His first goal in the 4-0 rout of Leicester came after goalkeeper Mads Hermansen had parried a shot from Diogo Jota and all he had to do was touch it in.

His tally came in a 4-2 victory over Karlsruher and a 4-4 draw with Furth, all of which occurred before Liverpool departed their German training camp for their most recent warm-up in Singapore.

Additionally, he continued his perfect record of scoring on all shots while also contributing an assist.

Klopp will be pleased with Alexis Mac Allister’s rising influence, even though he made wholesale changes at halftime, as he had in both of his team’s previous two friendlies.

Jota started an eight-minute run that blew away Enzo Maresca’s Foxes thanks to his vision and touch.

The Argentine World Cup hero, who cost the club £35 million and came from Brighton, was acquired in this summer to replicate the pinpoint accuracy and perceptiveness he showed in discovering Jota.

In contrast to Nunez, the attacking midfielder appears to have adjusted quickly and has the potential to give Klopp’s team a boost.

For the better part of the first half, Liverpool battled to keep their opponents at bay in a sparsely attended Singapore National Stadium.

After winning the Treble as Pep Guardiola’s assistant last season, Maresca may want the similarities to him to end.

For around a third of the game, however, Leicester followed the possession football blueprint of Manchester City and earned five corners in the opening 23 minutes.

In addition, Wilfred Ndidi was denied by a fantastic one-on-one save by Kop No 2 ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

After Nunez’s goal, Klopp’s troops put on the throttle, with Trent Alexander-Arnold once again starting in his new position as a right back/holding midfielder.

Jota scored off a Mo Salah assist after the Egyptian superstar put in a cross that was headed in by 18-year-old midfield prodigy Bobby Clark.

Another encouraging performance from Ben Doak added to the growing consensus that he is a future superstar.

The 17-year-old right winger from Scotland finished off the scoring for Klopp’s second-half squad with a deft header.
