After the Uruguayan star’s aborted deal with Inter Miami, Luis Suarez claimed that he and Lionel Messi want to retire together.
Inter Miami made headlines when acquiring seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi, who was followed by former teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Suarez was a target for the Herons as another former Barcelona treble winner. The transfer will not happen right away because the Uruguayan’s current club, Gremio, terminated talks with Miami, but the pair still hope to play together again.
“With Messi, we dream of retiring together,” he stated on the Uruguayan television program Punto Penal.
“It was something we always planned when we were in Barcelona,” he added. And from one year to the next, I was at Atletico, while he was at PSG. We fantasized about going to the United States after Barcelona, but nothing came to fruition at the moment.
Now that he has taken the decision to go there, he appears to be content, and we hope that at some point that possibility may occur.”Suarez’s current physical troubles make it seem doubtful that he will play for very long. As a result, their ambition of retiring together may fall through. Fans, on the other hand, may have a fair chance of seeing the four treble champions reunite for one final showdown.
Suarez’s Gremio and Messi’s Inter Miami are both well into their seasons, with the Herons still waiting to find out who they will face in the Leagues Cup round of 32, while the Brazilian team prepares to resume their Brasileiro Serie A campaign.
