Jordi Alba is officially on his way to the US, while Inter Miami fans are buzzing to see the Spaniard left-back linked up with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in South Florida.
The 34-year-old’s signing was technically revealed by Herons exactly a week ago today, with Alba agreeing to a contract that runs until the 2024 MLS season.
On Saturday, the 2014-15 Champions League champion shared a snap of himself on a private jet, while hugging his big dog on Instagram, as he prepared to take off from Barcelona.
‘Let’s go!’ he wrote as a footnote to the post.
‘Have a safe trip,’ read the post’s caption. ‘Soon we’ll all be together. We love you! Just give it a try!!’
Alba’s wife, Romarey Ventura, also an internet celebrity in Spain, gave birth to the couple’s youngest child, Paolo, about 10 days ago. At the time, many speculated that that was the reason why the player’s move was delayed until now.
Alba’s arrival on a free transfer comes after his contract with Barcelona was terminated by mutual agreement in May.
