Both Xavi Hernandez and Carlo Ancelotti selected extremely capable teams for the game, but Barcelona got off to a better start. Early on, they came agonizingly close to scoring, but Oriol Romeu’s thundering shot hιt the crossbar instead.
Luckily for Barcelona, they quickly took the lead. Ousmane Dembele had time inside the area thanks to a well-executed free-kick routine between Ilkay Gundogan and Pedri, and he finished past Thibaut Courtois.
Soon after, Real Madrid had numerous opportunities to tie the score. When they were given a penalty, Vinicius Junior could only hιt the crossbar, and they quickly followed it up by hιtting the woodwork twice more.
In Dallas, there were numerous hard tackles from both sides during the very competitive game. Gundogan and Andreas Christensen both took blows as a result, none of which is thought to be significant, but both sides felt the repercussions of it. Even though Ferland Mendy appeared to have a hamstring ιnjury, he was also substituted.
Barcelona made Real Madrid pay for their carelessness by adding a second late on thanks to a fantastic effort from youngster Fermin Lopez. Aurelien Tchouameni’s sensational shot from long range hι the crossbar. After being set up by Lopez, Ferran Torres also added a third extremely late in the game.
Those goals ensured that Barcelona won their first game of the preseason, and Xavi will undoubtedly be overjoyed.
