Real Madrid defeated Man United 2-0 on Thursday, but despite the competitive match, two stars shared a sweet moment after the game.
Alejandro Garnacho met Vinicius Jr. following Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Real Madrid on Thursday, adding another superstar shirt to his collection.
At the NRG Stadium in Houston, goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu marked the ends of the 90 minutes, handing the United senior team their first preseason loss. That occurred less than twenty-four hours after a youthful team in San Diego lost to Wrexham.
Bellingham and Lisandro Martinez fought in the first half of the match versus Madrid, which was rather heated for a preseason friendly but quickly forgotten. However, by halftime, players from both teams had united and displayed a great deal of respect.
Vinicius gave Garnacho, a young winger for the Reds, an autographed shirt after the game, and they enjoyed a sweet moment. “Good to see you, brother!” the 19-year-old wrote beside a photo of the two of them. At @vinijr’, I’m going to have a fantastic day.
As shown in the image, Vinicius wrote “Para mi hermano,” which translates to “for my brother” in Portuguese. He goes on to refer to the United sensation as “el crɑck,” a slang word for a top athlete.
On Thursday, Garnacho had his first preseason start, with Erik ten Hag starting the youngster on the left alongside Marcus Rashford up front. Around the hour mark, the Argentinian appeared as direct as ever before and was one of several changes.
He will be looking to improve on his excellent breakout season in red by replicating Vinicius’ left-side play this year.
