As the Reds take a moment to relax before their flight to Singapore, two familiar faces are reunited.
Dejan Lovren and Mohamed Salah reconnected for the first time since the defender’s departure from Anfield in 2020. The two were notoriously attached at the hip while the defender was a member of the team.
In an effort to prepare for the next season, Liverpool has played its first two preseason friendlies in Germany. The team now has a short rest before traveling to Singapore on Thursday for two more.
Following a three-year separation, the two were reunited, and Lovren posted a photo of them hugging on Instagram with the message, “After three long years not seeing each other, finally we found each other again.”
Following Liverpool’s record-breaking Premier League title triumph in 2019–20, the ex–Reds center-back left for Zenit Saint Petersburg and has since joined Lyon in Ligue 1.
Since leaving the team, Lovren has remained in touch with the Egyptian King, sending him a letter of congratulations when he scored the Reds’ 100th league goal in 2021.
The Croatian shared a behind-the-scenes video of what appeared to be a film set on his Instagram story. It appeared that the two were filming some sort of advertisement.
In addition, Salah released a covert video of his former teammate enjoying some food as they rested before what will be a significant season for both players.
Despite spending the previous three seasons apart, it is evident that the two still have a close friendship. However, Salah’s eye for goal hasn’t been affected by the distance as he has scored 92 goals since his teammate’s departure.
Liverpool still has a lot to accomplish before the real action begins at Stamford Bridge on August 13; they have friendlies against Leicester, Bayern Munich, and Darmstadt before the 2023–24 season officially begins.
