PHOTO GALLERY: Andre Onana upgraded Man United’s style with 95% pass accuracy on debut against Real Madrid

Andre Onana had a promising performance despite Man United’s loss to Real Madrid.

David de Gea left the club after his contract expired at the end of June and Erik ten Hag identified Andre Onana as a top target. Onana joined Man Utd from Inter Milan for £47.2m, signing a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

After more than a week of debut, the Cameroonian goalkeeper officially made his debut for the new team. Accordingly, he played from the beginning when Man Utd had a friendly match against Real Madrid

Explaining this decision, coach Erik ten Hag said: “Onana has been with us for a week. He is comfortable with the team and has been with us the whole time. So this is the right time. suitable for Onana to take the lead.”

Against Real Madrid, Onana made 3 saves during the 90 minutes. It is important that all 3 saves were made in the box. The former Inter Milan player made a sweep and succeeded.

Onana made Man Utd quickly forget about De Gea when he handled the ball with skillful feet. The 27-year-old has 51 touches of the ball and has a passing accuracy rate of up to 95%. Notably, 4/5 of Onana’s long passes reached his teammates’ feet.

Andre Onana roamed from his area when in possession

The goalkeeper is known for his ability to play out from the back.

With United trailing after Jude Bellingham’s early opener, Onana had the freedom to roam from his box.

He took up a position between the two center-backs which allowed the Red Devils to stretch play and take up wide positions.

Onana then picked out his team-mates on the wing with precise passing, leaving fans impressed.

Clearly Onana shows why Coach Ten Hag is determined to recruit him.
