OFFICIAL: Luis Suárez will not join Inter Miami this summer, talks collapse

aWhile Inter Miami has been amassing former Barcelona players like infinity stones, it appears that they may lose out on Luis Suarez from Gremio this season, according to ESPN. With the Brazilian team vying for the league title, they don’t want to let Suarez go unless Miami pays his release clause, which is rᴜmored to be $70 million.

Unlike Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, who were free agents, the Herons would be unable to pay the transfer money while still providing Suarez with an adequate contract, especially given the league’s salary regulations.

Suarez definitely wants to reunite with Messi, and Tata Martino is creating something spectacular in Fort Lauderdale, where the squad is undefeated in League Cup play and will go to the knockout stages of the tournament after winning their group. Martino did address the Suarez speculations in a press conference on Monday.

“After all is said and done, there are some obstacles with regard to his situation with Grêmio, and this means that it is not entirely Inter Miami’s decision,” he explained.

Suarez was apparently willing to refund his Gremio pay, but even that won’t be enough to entice him to go to Miami. That doesn’t imply there won’t be any further additions or changes.

When Gremio’s season ended, it will be easier to negotiate a deal with Inter Miami. Suarez’s contract will expire in December 2024, thus he will have a year left on it after the season concludes. Suarez appears to be on his way to Miami; the only question is when.
