Manchester United received their second defeat in 48 hours as Erik ten Hag’s side fell 2-0 to the impressive Real Madrid.
England superstar Jude Bellingham soon put the Spanish giants ahead with a fine strike while Joselu, formerly of Stoke City, ended the Houston win with a beautiful long-range strike.
United struggled for the last third of the game and it was a long night for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the lead, who came into the backyard and struggled to come on off the bench. Andre Onana could do little with the two goals he conceded on his United debut but showed he has plenty of strengths as Ten Hag’s new No. ANDRE ONANA 6.5 – Beaten by Bellingham on his debut in less than six minutes and had no chance with a second goal from Joselu, but made some excellent saves and did more than enough with the ball at his feet to show what he will bring to United.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA 5.5 – Losing hands at Real’s pace and Bellingham’s tɦreat on the left, and was conceded by Vinicius Junior at one point in the first half. RAPHAEL VARANE 6 – Steps up to test for offside Bellingham and is caught red-handed despite the new £115m Real Madrid player appearing to be offside.
LISANDRO MARTINEZ 6 – Another game, another reservation for a naughty challenge, this time on Bellingham before halftime. Epitomes Ten Hag claims that there is no friendly. LUKE SHAW 6.5 – Debated well with Luka Modric and progressed well before he was one of nine United players being substituted after an hour of play.
CASEMIRO 5.5 – Returning to United’s starting line-up for the first time before pre-season against his former club and still needs to get up to speed.
KOBBIE MAINOO 5 – The teenager was allowed to play again but was injured within two minutes and had to leave the fieldgar
BRUNO FERNANDES 6.5 – Play on the right to match new signing Mount before switching to number 10 in the second half. Forcing goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to make a smart save from close range.
MASON MOUNT 7 – Play with 10 and get close to the equalizer from close range as well as tackle the game’s supposed tackle with a recovery challenge on Tchouameni.
ALEJANDRO GARNACHO 7 – Looks vibrant on his first pre-season debut and isn’t afraid to sɦoot from long range on some occasions.
MARCUS RASHFORD 5.5 – Like most United internationals who have returned to training a little later, Rashford is still doing his best and trying to make an impact here.
