Jordan Henderson posted an emotional farewell message to supporters ahead of his imminent move to Al Ittifaq.
Henderson is close to finalizing a move to the Saudi Pro League side, after being offered a £700,000-a-week salary to join the team managed by former Reds team-mate Steven Gerrard
The England international left Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Germany last Wednesday to undergo medical examinations in Manchester.
Henderson has now confirmed he will be leaving Anfield in a touching goodbye video on Instagram , which you can check out below.
Henderson ended a 12-year stint with Liverpool to join a side that hadn’t won in four pre-season friendlies under Gerrard.
However, the move did not come without criticism. The midfielder, who succeeded Gerrard as Liverpool captain eight years ago, has long been one of the LGBTQ+ community’s strongest allies in the Premier League.
However, he is moving to a country where being homosexual or transgender is still illegal and where anyone who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community can face severe penalties.
At the end of the video, Henderson said: “Just know that I will always be a Red Devil until the day I die. Thanks for everything.
“You will never walk alone”.
