Jurrien Timber has sent a message to Lisandro Martinez on Instagram after Manchester United beat Arsenal in a pre-season friendly over the weekend.
On Saturday, strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho helped Man United defeat the Gunners 2-0.
Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel Magalhaes committed costly mistakes that led to goals, therefore Arsenal was the architect of their own demise.
Despite previous subpar performances, Jurrien Timber once again excelled as he started the game at right-back. The Dutchman has garnered interest during preseason after completing a £38 million transfer from Ajax.
Over the weekend, he competed against Lisandro Martinez, a former teammate with whom he had previously shared an Amsterdam-based team.
After the game, Timber posted on social media to share his joy over playing against an old friend in America.
Following their friendly on Saturday in New Jersey, Martinez and Timber uploaded a photo of themselves together.
The duo can be spotted on Timber’s Instagram story and the Arsenal man wrote: “Good to see you brother,” alongside a heart emoji.
Last time around, Martinez made a significant impact in his United debut campaign by securing a spot in Erik ten Hag’s team right away.
Timber, who departed Ajax, is expected to have a similar impact on Arsenal in North London.
The 22-year-old has already shown flashes of his ball handling prowess and seems to match Mikel Arteta’s playing style well.
Ben White will undoubtedly face tough competition for a spot in Arteta’s lineup this year, despite the fact that the young defender is still in the early phases of his career.
