Jurrien Timber has sent a message to Lisandro Martinez on Instagram after Manchester United beat Arsenal in a pre-season friendly over the weekend.
On Saturday, strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho helped Man United defeat the Gunners 2-0.
Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel Magalhaes committed costly mistakes that led to goals, therefore Arsenal was the architect of their own demise.
Jurrien Timber impressed once more as he started the game as right-back despite some poor performances. The Dutchman, who recently completed a £38 million transfer from Ajax, has drawn attention during preseason.
He faced off against one of his former teammates in Lisandro Martinez over the weekend, with the duo playing together during their time in Amsterdam.
And Timber took to social media after the game to express his delight at facing his old friend in the US.
Timber posted a picture of himself alongside Martinez after Saturday’s friendly in New Jersey.
The duo can be spotted on Timber’s Instagram story and the Arsenal man wrote: “Good to see you brother,” alongside a heart emoji.
Last time around, Martinez made a significant impact in his United debut campaign by securing a spot in Erik ten Hag’s team right away.
Arsenal will be hoping that Timber, who left Ajax, can have a similar effect in North London.
The 22-year-old has already displayed glimmers of his skill with the ball and appears to be a good fit for Mikel Arteta’s playing style.
Of course, the young defender is still in the early stages of his career, but it appears like Ben White will face stiff competition for a spot in Arteta’s team this year.
