Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich is in talks to join Al-Nassr, according to L’Equipe, just a year after leaving Liverpool.
Bayern signed the 31-year-old from Liverpool for £35 million last summer. Sadio Mane agreed to a three-year contract extension through 2025. However, the striker did not make an impression in the Bundesliga, scoring only 7 goals in 25 appearances.
Mane is prone to injuries and was suspended by Bayern Munich in April for punching teammate Leroy Sane after a 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League. Coach Thomas Tuchel said earlier this month that Mane “fell short of expectations” during his time at Bayern.
According to L’Equipe, Mane has reached an agreement in principle with Al-Nassr, but the agreement “has not been fully signed yet”. However, this is a very likely possibility, especially when the striker is facing an uncertain future at Bayern.
Mane will be teammates with Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro League runner-up last season, if he agrees to join Al-Nassr. CR7 arrived in the Middle East from Manchester United in December of last year. This summer, Al-Nassr is constantly recruiting big names. They signed Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic, Lens’ Seko Fofana, and MU’s Alex Telles.
If successful, Mane will join Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Roberto Firmino, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Edouard Mendy, Riyad Mahrez, Marcelo Brozovic, and others in the Saudi Pro League this summer.
The Senegalese player will also be able to reunite with many of his Liverpool teammates who have won the Premier League and Champions League, including striker Firmino and upcoming midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
