Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has been pictured with a new look during training on his club’s pre-season tour.
This summer, Barcelona and PSG were said to be interested in signing the Portugal midfielder from the Etihad Stadium.
In order to deter rival clubs, City wants the 30-year-old to sign a new contract, according to the Daily Mirror. His present contract expires in 2025, and the triple champions allegedly made him an additional two-year extension offer.
Pep Guardiola reportedly values Silva at £70 million. Silva was named in Man City’s travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.
He has been pictured in training ahead of his side’s opening friendly against Yokohama F Marinos on Sunday – with a notable change to his appearance.
Silva has changed his look in the off-season – and fans have had their say on social media.
Fans react as Bernardo Silva debuts new look
Silva has been pictured with a shaved head in training ahead of City’s opening friendly – and, because why not, fans think it is just another sign that City will retain their Premier League trophy this season.
One wrote: “Yeah it’s so over for the Prem.”
Another said: “We are balling if he stays.”
A third added: “The Premier League is finished.”
Meanwhile, a fourth predicted: “He’s not going anywhere, rivals better be scared.”
Some fans have even come up with a theory about Silva’s new hairstyle, saying that he did it as an homage to his former teammate David Silva from City.
Earlier this week, the Spaniard injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while working out with his current club, Real Sociedad.
The great midfielder, 37, is reportedly planning to retire as a result of the injury, which usually sidelines athletes for nine months.
One wrote: “One Silva showing respect to another Silva.”
Another said: “So much respect.”
The real reason behind the haircut hasn’t been revealed – but we may yet hear the truth from the midfielder himself after City’s first pre-season game.
