In front of the 2023–24 season, Erik ten Hag makes a very clear point.

The manager was chatting to MUTV exclusively on Manchester United’s tour of the United States as the Reds prepared to take on Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday at 22:00 BST. The match will be broadcast live on the official club channel.

The Dutchman made significant progress with United last season, returning to the Champions League, and Erik has already begun assembling his team for the upcoming season.

The manager says supporters should anticipate a “dynamic” and “aggressivҽ” performance against the Gunners as we approach our first of four games against them in the USA.

“[I’m sending my players the message that] we want to do it the United way. What does United Way do? So what makes us who we are? And in that particular approach, we aim to achieve great success.

“As a result, we carefully considered both the talents of our players and the history of Manchester United. You can then reply, “So, what do we want to be?” In other words, we aspire to be the world’s top transition team. Our goal is to surprisҽ. We want to play [football] dynamically, quickly, and aggrҽssively because we have a great sense of teamwork. United is thus.

“And I believe that version was already present last year; it was there in both big and small games. We proved that we can defeat any opponent, even the best ones in the world, but doing so consistently will be very difficult for us if we are to succeed in that fιght as a team.

“Therefore, [along] with the players, together with the staff, together with everyone nearby and at Manchester United, but also together with the supporters. I’m therefore eagerly anticipating the season.

Erik continued, “Our team is aiming for hardware in the upcoming season, but we must consistently uphold high standards if we are to meet our high expectations.”

He exclaimed, “That consistency is very crucial. That is the standard for each player’s performance as well as that of each team.

“We must include that because we demonstrated that we can accomplish it in the face of any criticism, but now we must do it every time.

“And everyone faces a tremendous problem with this. Although it will be a tough test, we are looking forward to it.
