Liverpool transfer round-up: Jurgen Klopp wants to replace Saudi targets with a £70 million talent

This summer, Liverpool FC is searching for a new holding midfielder due to the interest shown in both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho by Saudi Arabian teams. After placing fifth in the Premier League last year, the team is eager to play in the Champions League once more. They are also seen as heavy favorites to win the Europa League the following year.

Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder Dominic Corness has joined Swiss side Yverdon Sport on a one-year loan deal, providing him with the opportunity to play top-flight football in the Swiss Super League. The 20-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for Liverpool but has already gained some professional experience in games against League One and League Two clubs in the EFL Trophy.

The midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain, Marco Verratti, is a possible target for Liverpool. If Henderson and Fabinho depart the club for Saudi Arabian teams, the Reds are allegedly interested in signing the 30-year-old international from Italy. Henderson has already signed a lucrative £700,000-a-week contract with Al-Ettifaq for a sum of £12 million, while Al-Ittihad is attempting to sign Fabinho for a fee of £40 million. The results of these transfers are still up in the air.

Verratti has won 32 trophies, including nine Ligue 1 championships and the Euro 2020, and has appeared in almost 500 games for the first squad. Although PSG is reportedly seeking a sum of £70 million, they will only sell him if the price is right.

Jorg Schmadtke, Liverpool’s sporting director, might continue working with the team after this summer. Schmadtke initially agreed to a one-year deal with a break clause, but he has since said he would stay longer. A decision will be made in August.
