Denzel Dumfries and Robin Gosens sent ‘touching message’ to new Man Utd ‘golden signing’

After signing with Manchester United, Andre Onana bid a tearful farewell to Inter Milan.

Andre Onana was unable to resist the lure of joining Manchester United.

The goalie for the national team of Cameroon, though, would have been content to merely remain at Inter Milan if Manchester United had not made an approach.

He had barely been in the San Siro for a year when he truly connected with the supporters, won the Coppa Italia, and advanced to the Champions League final.

Andre Onana goodbye message

The goalie sent fans of Inter Milan a heartfelt farewell message on Instagram, wishing the team luck following a fantastic season.

I never thought that saying goodbye would be so difficult, he remarked. When I joined the Nerazzurro club a year ago, several people informed me that the city and this club were unique. I can now confirm that. I came to understand that this is a family in my early days as a Nerazzurro and that being an Interisti is a way of viewing the world.

“San Siro, la Curva, and the city captured my heart. The time has come for me to begin a new journey in Manchester. In spite of the fact that I shall miss you, I do it with great enthusiasm. I’m grateful to all the interisti forever. You contribute much to the success of this club.

“Perhaps one day our paths will cross again, but for now it’s time to confront fresh obstacles while supporting you from a distance. Although players come and go, the club is always there, and Inter is in a class by itself. It’s André Onana.

It was a sophisticated message to start his Manchester United career. He has agreed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford through 2028, with an additional year’s option.

Onana will don the same number 24 shirt that he did at Inter and Ajax in the past.

Responses to Onana

Denzel Dumfries and Robin Gosens, players who hold high regard for Andre Onana at Inter Milan, wished him well.

Onana’s post was also “liked” by his current and previous teammate Antony, his old friend Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, and Matteo Darmian of Inter, a former United defender.

Numerous letters from unhappy Inter fans and well-wishers were sent to him, and there were also delighted Manchester United supporters.
