It will be annoying to read the most recent information regarding the takeover of Manchester United. Prepare to move.
The Manchester United selling process has been a complete farce, and this is not breaking news.
Last November, when the club issued invitations for “strategic investment,” it was deliberately worded so that the Glazers wouldn’t be forced to fully commit to a sale.
Fans worry that the Glazers may buckle under the pressure of the continual delays in the process and decide not to sell at all, wasting everyone’s time.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe share stance
Manchester United has two primary suitors, each of whom has a unique offer. The Glazers have not yet made any commitments to Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
At the end of April, a firm submission deadline was established. Then, Sheikh Jassim made two additional bids, firmly designating the most recent one as the winning one.
Amazingly, The Mail claims that the Glazers have contacted both bidders and asked them to increase their offers. Each has decreased.
Regarding their final offers, the report notes that “efforts have been made to boost such prices. They haven’t had any luck.
Concern rising over Glazer decision
Now, both bidders are unsure if the Glazers will even sell anything at all. Although the monies offered are above market value for a sports team, the undesired American owners want more.
According to The Mail, they are asking for more like £6 billion while the offers are more like £5 billion.
Before, it was anticipated that a choice would be determined by mid-June. Now, it doesn’t appear likely that it will be determined by the time the season begins in a month.
The outrage from Manchester United supporters over this is understandable, and there are worries that one or both bids would back out.
