UPDATE: Arsenal ask for ‘unbelievable’ price as Inter Milan sent £34m offer for Folarin Balogun

ARSENAL have placed a £50m price tag on the head of striker Folarin Balogun.

But the Gunners are ready to sell the former England under-21 man despite his goal exploits in France.

Balogun played Arsenal’s first pre-season game against FC Nurnberg

Inter Milan head the likely suitors after pulling out of the race for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.

The Serie A club are set to bid around £34m for the 22-year-old, but the Gunners want at least £50m.

Preview

Brooklyn-born Balogun, who scored 22 goals on loan at Ligue 1 Reims last season, swapped nationalities to declare for the country of his birth and made his USA debut last month.

And the striker, 22, appears to be reconciling himself with leaving Arsenal.

He said: “I went away and the point was to prove I could play first team football.

“I feel I was able to do that and show people I can play at that level.

“With me coming back it’s not really much of a situation where I need to try extra hard to prove something.

“It’s a decision that’s not really with me.

“Whatever happens I’m cool with it.”

Balogun has traveled to the United States with the rest of the Arsenal team as manager Mikel Arteta evaluates his team in preparation for the forthcoming campaign.

The attacker is well-positioned to exert pressure on players like Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus thanks to his productive loan season in Ligue 1.

Balogun has two years left on his Arsenal contract, and he also spoke of his desire to play regularly. However, if he stays at the Emirates Stadium, it will be difficult for this player to compete for the starting position with Jesus. Perhaps with the current situation, Arsenal’s sale of Balogun to Inter is a plan to satisfy all parties.

However, Arsenal is open to selling if the proper offer is made, especially because they have already committed to spending up to £210 million this summer provided add-ons are met.
