After being released by the Red Devils, former Manchester United star David de Gea is “set for an immediate and very lucrative return to football.”
Following his release from Manchester United earlier this month, DAVID DE GEA might be ready to play football again right away.
The club’s highest-paid player, a Spanish goalkeeper making £375,000 a week, was not renewed by United because they had their eyes on Andre Onana.
De Gea, meanwhile, may see his pay DOUBLE as a result of ‘lucrative’ bids from Saudi clubs this summer, claims the Daily Star.
Al-Nassr is one of the parties who may be interested in a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the Riyadh-based club is now under a transfer restriction due to unpaid invoices, which allows other Saudi teams to step in.
De Gea initially appeared to be planning to stay at United longer, as the goalkeeper was willing to take a wage reduction in order to compete for a spot.
When an agreement was about to be reached, however, United rescinded the offer, which caused De Gea to withdraw from the talks and end his 12-year relationship with the team.
With United, he captured six major championships, including the Premier League in 2013 and the Europa League in 2017.
Harry Maguire, the former captain, might follow De Gea out the exit door.
Maguire said yesterday that he has lost his position as United captain due to manager Erik Ten Hag’s dissatisfaction with him as a first-team option.
He acknowledged that he was “extremely disappointed” with Ten Hag’s choice in a social media post.
West Ham is rumored to be the favorite to sign Maguire, but interested parties are being turned off by United’s demands for a £50 million fee.
According to yesterday’s SunSport article, West Ham, Tottenham, and Newcastle are now competing with Chelsea for Maguire’s services.
When United first considered Jordan Pickford as De Gea’s replacement, they balked at the Toffees’ £70 million asking price.
The team then shifted its attention to Onana, and they are close to finalizing a £47 million transfer with the goalkeeper having a physical later this week.
De Gea leaves United as the team’s all-time leading goalkeeper with 545 appearances.
