UPDATE: Micky Van De Ven might replace Colwill in Liverpool

The Wolfsburg defender may be a more affordable option than Levi Colwill, who Liverpool is interested in.

This summer, Liverpool was heavily rumored to be interested in signing Micky van de Ven. Now, new information on the club’s pursuit of the player for the upcoming season has come to light.

How far has Liverpool’s interest in Micky van de Ven progressed?

Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard reports that Tottenham Hotspur’s current negotiations with the VfL Wolfsburg defender are threatened by Liverpool.

According to a piece produced for the publication, Liverpool and Spurs are vying for the same type of defender, and as a result, the North London club is concerned that the Merseyside giants would interfere with their negotiations with Van de Ven this summer.

How swiftly does Micky van de Ven move?

Over the past few weeks and months, Liverpool has been linked with a number of left-footed defenders. According to sources, England U21 standout Levi Colwill is the Reds’ newest target.

It would not be surprising if the Merseysiders turn their attention back to Van de Ven before the transfer window closes, as the Bundesliga star presents as a much cheaper alternative with a price tag of £30 million. However, with Chelsea not keen on selling their prized asset and a transfer fee likely to be astronomical as a result, it would not be surprising.

The two ball-playing defenders were comparable in some important areas, such as goal contributions (2 v 2) and pass completion (87.7% v. 88.2%), but Van de Van outperformed the Chelsea star in terms of tackles won per 90, blocks per 90, and clearances per 90 (3.3 v. 2.73).

The 22-year-old ranks in the top 25% of his positional peers for progressive carries, successful take-ons, and progressive passes received, proving that he is not only a confident ball-winner but also takes care of the ball when in possession. In addition, over the past 12 months, Van de Ven has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the top five European leagues.

There is undoubtedly a real opportunity to add some more youth to the backline alongside Ibrahima Konate in order to get a head start on developing the future of the defensive presence as both his compatriot Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are both in their 30s at this point and the latter is currently in the final year of his contract.

In light of this, it will be intriguing to see if Liverpool makes a firm approach for a center-back this summer, and the club’s interest in Van de Ven should be closely monitored as it plans its comeback for the upcoming season.

The collection of watches owned by Lionel Messi Who hasn’t heard of Argentina’s Lionel Messi, a football player? He is without a doubt among the all-time greats in football. The legend has received the Ballon d’Or, a yearly football award, since 1956 from the French news source France Football. It honors the male player that football writers feel has performed the best throughout the previous year. Compared to Cristiano Ronaldo’s two victories, the PSG player has seven.

He is a well-known soccer player who has won numerous awards and is also an avid watch collector, just as Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Neymar Jr., Luka Modric, Harry Kane, etc., who have amassed amazing collections of expensive timepieces.

It’s interesting to note that, unlike famous people like Christiano Ronaldo, he primarily collects “not-so-expensive” watches. Cheap is defined as being under $100,000. Come on, he had to be carrying a ton of cash. He effectively had access to over $500k for costly watches.

Now let’s take a closer look at this legendary soccer legend’s modest watch collection.

Lionel was an advocate for Audemars Piguet at the start of the new decade and was regularly seen sporting his vintage Royal Oak in stainless steel. The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra Thin 15202 with the white Tapiserrie dial is one among them (the 15202 is no longer offered with the coveted blue dial).

The cost of this Royal Oak has increased dramatically, as has the cost of the majority of them. It was going for roughly $87,000 on the secondary market as of July 2022.
