Alejandro Garnacho has a new contract with Nike after a stellar season at Manchester United.
Alejandro Garnacho, a Manchester United player, has officially agreed to sign a contract with US apparel giant Nike.
This season, Garnacho played a key role in United’s Under-18s team that won the FA Youth Cup. The young attacker has five goals in the league and his impressive play has earned him a call-up ᴜɴᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ to the Argentina national team.
The standout youngster, 17, has been training this week with United’s first team and will only be wearing Nike shoes for the time being. This is because Garnacho announced on Wednesday night that he has signed to represent United as the newest Nike Athlete.
Garnacho said on social media that he is “delighted and proud to be joining the world’s best brand, Nike.”
Spain-born Garnacho joined United two years ago after leaving Atletico Madrid. The youngster used to represent the country at the Under-18 level, but Garnacho has just changed his mind and is now eligible to play for Argentina thanks to his mother.
During his international break, the boy trained with Lionel Messi, and since then he has had the opportunity to train with Ronaldo, who also wears Nike shoes.
Later this month, Garnacho will want to lead United to their first FA Youth Cup title since 2011.
